i keep getting download java 7 or above but im already on 8 and bungee still wont run

so as my post title proudly gives away what i am having trouble with ill let you know i am runnin my server on a imac mid 2011, i5 , 16gb ram and yosemite.

i have updated my java and bungee just keeps giving me this error

*** ERROR *** BungeeCord requires Java 7 or above to function! Please download and install it!

You can check your Java version with the command: java -version

Can anyone help me with this or is this a yosemite / bunjee bug (conflicting) ? ?
