Question about BungeeCord

I currently have a survival server which people from all over the world join.

The server is currently based in Europe which means USA players experience some high pings which I want to try and get ride of.
I was thinking of using bungeecord on a small server in the USA to then contact the Europe server. Now if my understanding is correct bungee works something like this:

So the player connects to Bungee USA which should be relatively low latency....
